STREE

Terms of Service

Last updated: April 5, 2026

STREE is a branching collaborative storytelling platform. These terms explain how your content is owned, how stories grow, and how the platform operates. We wrote this to be readable — not just legal.

The short version

You own what you write.

Every paragraph, node, and contribution you create on STREE belongs to you.

Stories grow through collaboration.

Other writers may continue or branch from your content within STREE's structure.

STREE hosts and promotes collaborative content.

By posting, you allow STREE to display, distribute, and recommend your work inside the platform.

Future rewards follow contribution impact.

If revenue sharing is introduced, distribution will be based on transparent platform rules — not raw word count.

01.Introduction

Welcome to STREE — a branching collaborative storytelling platform where stories grow through community contributions, reader choices, and shared creativity.

These Terms of Service explain how content works on STREE, what rights you keep, what you grant the platform, and how collaborative story structures are handled. Please read them carefully.

By creating an account or posting content on STREE, you agree to these terms.

02.Ownership of Your Content

You keep ownership of what you write. Every paragraph, node, and story you create on STREE remains your intellectual property.

STREE does not claim ownership over user-generated content. You are the author of your words, and that does not change when you post on this platform.

This applies equally to story-starting nodes, continuation paragraphs, and any other written contribution you submit.

03.License Granted to STREE

By posting content on STREE, you grant STREE a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, distribute, promote, and recommend that content within the platform.

This license covers what is needed to run the service: showing your content to readers, indexing it for search, featuring it in recommendations, generating story-based summaries or previews, and allowing collaborative continuation by other users.

This license is limited to operation of the STREE platform. It does not allow STREE to sell your work to third parties, license it for external publications, or use it in ways unrelated to the platform's core function.

If STREE ever introduces AI-assisted features (such as summary generation or reading aids), those features will operate under this same license scope — they support the reading experience, not exploitation of your content.

04.Collaborative Story Growth

STREE is built around collaborative branching. A story starts with a single paragraph — the root node — and grows as other writers choose to continue it.

Other users may write the next paragraph from any node you have contributed. This is the core mechanic of STREE and what makes stories here fundamentally different from traditional solo authorship.

When you contribute a node to a story, you are adding to a shared creative structure. That structure may branch in many directions you did not write or anticipate, and that is by design.

Your writing may become part of a larger collaborative path. The value of a path on STREE comes from its whole — the accumulated choices, branches, and contributions from multiple writers working together.

05.Derivative and Continuation Content

Within STREE, continuation content is permitted and encouraged. Other users may write nodes that extend, branch from, or re-interpret a direction your writing established.

Continuation nodes are new, original works created by other authors. They are not reproductions of your writing.

External use of your content in derivative works outside the STREE platform — such as independent publications, adaptations, films, games, or commercial products — is not covered by the STREE platform license and requires your separate, explicit consent.

If you believe someone is misusing your content outside the platform, please contact us.

06.Moderation and Visibility

STREE maintains a moderation system to protect the quality and safety of the platform. Content that violates community standards may be reviewed, hidden, or removed.

Reasons for moderation include: abuse, hate speech, harassment, spam, sexual content, violence, copyright violations, and other harmful material.

Moderation actions include visibility reduction, temporary hiding, and permanent removal. Users may be subject to warnings, writing restrictions, suspensions, or bans for repeat violations.

STREE aims to be fair and consistent in moderation. If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you may contact the team to request a review.

07.Revenue and Future Commercialization

STREE does not currently offer direct monetary compensation to contributors. This platform is in its foundation stage, and no active revenue-sharing or payout system is live.

If revenue sharing is introduced in the future, distribution will be based on transparent platform rules. The guiding principle we intend to follow is:

Platform Share: ~30% · Story Creator Share: ~20% · Path Contributors Share: ~50%

Within the Contributors Share, individual allocations will be based on Contribution Score — a measure of impact, not raw word count. This means a short, pivotal node that shapes a popular path may be valued more than a long node that readers rarely reach.

These percentages are principles, not active financial commitments. Actual figures will be confirmed and announced before any payout system goes live.

For external commercialization of STREE content — such as print publishing, adaptation rights, merchandise, or any use outside the platform — separate agreements and explicit author consent are required. This will never happen automatically.

08.Contribution Score and Recognition

STREE values impact, not just word count. We believe the quality of a contribution is better measured by how it shapes the story and resonates with readers than by how many characters it contains.

Contribution Score is an impact-based metric designed to reflect:

Reader reactions (likes, wows, curiosity responses) · Role weight (whether a node starts the story, branches it, or brings it to an ending) · Path popularity (how many readers travel through a node's route) · Optional recency factors

Contribution Score is currently used for recognition within the platform (reputation, levels, writing privileges). In any future revenue-sharing model, it would serve as the basis for allocating the Contributors Share.

The exact algorithm for Contribution Score may evolve as the platform grows. We will communicate significant changes to how scores are calculated.

09.Content Removal and Story Integrity

You may request removal of content you have written. For standalone nodes that have no children in the story tree, removal is straightforward.

For nodes that other users have continued from — meaning your node is part of an active story path — complete removal may affect the reading integrity of that path. In such cases, STREE may retain minimal metadata about the node's existence in the tree while obscuring the original content.

This is necessary to preserve the coherence of collaborative stories that others have built on top of your contribution. We will always try to honor removal requests in a way that respects both your rights and the rights of other contributors.

If you have concerns about content removal, please reach out directly.

10.Changes to These Terms

STREE may update these Terms of Service as the platform evolves. When significant changes are made, we will update the 'Last updated' date shown on this page and notify users through in-platform announcements where appropriate.

Continued use of STREE after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
